JGA and Toshiba Land a PIASC Award

Printing Industries Association, Inc. of Southern California (PIASC) is the trade association for the graphic arts community in Southern California.  They put on an annual Printing Excellence Competition that covers all of the major Southern California markets including Los Angeles, San Diego, San Bernardino and more recently added, Nevada’s own major market Las Vegas. With PIASC being the largest graphic arts trade association in the nation, we were very honored to hear that our creative submission from our client work for Toshiba America Medical Systems won the Award of Excellence in the 2010 competition.

This is a great win for both Johnson Gray and Toshiba America Medical Systems.  We couldn’t be more proud of our team for doing such a great job!

JGA Healthcare Success

Here at JGA we have been delivering some award-winning healthcare advertising for our clients this year (as can be expected, it is what we do after all).  But this year specifically for our client St. Joseph Health System - Sonoma County our creative efforts have won them a National Aster Award for their TV spot, as well as a TELLY Award for their 2 year-long campaign we’ve created on their behalf.  Being that these are huge competitions with thousands of entries, the TELLY Awards alone being one of the most sought-after awards by industry leaders, with over 200 categories and submissions from all 50 states and 5 continents, we are very pleased to have won this award for our client.  Our creative team did an amazing job with St. Joseph’s “I am” advertising campaign which included print, TV, web, rich media and online banners.  Being that the campaign was so successful, we’ve included the creative as key pieces in our healthcare mailer:

Visit our flickr page to take a closer look, and if you find yourself even more interested in what we have to offer for healthcare advertising - give us a ring 949.955.3781 and we’d be happy to mail you a copy of this mailer, as well as any other correspondence you need.

Giving Applebee’s Creative Support

Applebee’s has partnered with us for some added creative support.  We have blended our extensive restaurant experience with our stellar creative team and have been whipping up some in-store collateral including die cuts, caddy strips, table toppers -  you name it.  Whenever they are craving a new ingredient to add to their already delicious creative, we are happy to be here to help as needed.

JGA Staffers get Certified to Save Lives

Shannon and Erin are officially CPR and First Aid certified!!

Now if anyone in the agency has a stress induced heart attack from down-to-the-wire deadlines, diabetic-induced mood swings, severe bleeding from multiple paper cuts associated with self-promo direct mail fulfillment, choking while trying to scarf down lunch right before a big client meeting, or severe coffee burns resulting from the lethal combination of the lack of sleep and transporting loads of caffeine filled mugs to help fuel the team during crunch time, they will be there to act quickly and confidently to save the Johnson Gray team!

We encourage you to get certified too!  Contact American Heart Association and find out how you can get certified in celebration of their 50th CPR Anniversary!!

Coke Zero Fannovation

Coke Zero has been calling on all NCAA® fans to help improve the NCAA® fan experience.  The mission: Develop ideas that would make being an NCAA® basketball fan exponentially better. The ideas can be directed towards the fans watching at the game, at home, at work - anywhere.  Participants were asked to submit as many ideas as they desired, and the best ideas that would be chosen by the Coke Zero Department of Fannovation will face off in the first ever Coke Zero Brain Bracket Championship.
Well Selection Sunday has passed, the top 64 ideas have been chosen, all of which are currently in the Brain Bracket hoping to advance to the championship round.  NCAA® fans everywhere will decide which ideas advance further in the Brain Bracket and which are eliminated. In the end, the winning idea will get $10,000 and two tickets to the 2011 NCAA® Men’s Final Four®,  the top four ideas will receive $1,000 and two Tickets to the 2011 NCAA® Men’s Final Four®, and the top sixteen finalists will get $1,000.  Our fellow JGA alum Tim Heckman has made it to that top 64, and we are voting for him all the way to the finish line!  We encourage you to do the same!

He has a great idea that helps get fans at home involved called the At Home Fan Cam.  Coke Zero seems to think it’s a good idea having commented that it could gain some serious traction.  Here’s a run down:
Everybody at home gets to see the great crowd reactions of the fans at the stadium during the excitement, but they, or nobody else for that matter, gets to see the reactions of the millions of fans reacting at home. What if there was a simple way to capture and share all the raw excitement fans feel at home while watching the game on TV? I’m thinking all it would take is a small camera that connects to either your TV, DVR or perhaps even an X-Box 360, Playstation 3 or Blu Ray player that can save content. Basically, it’s a web cam for your living room, an at home fan cam if you will. Reactions would be recorded and shared in real time just as fan reactions at the stadium are being shared. Yes, there is some technology involved, but could be a really cool feature if pulled off correctly.
So jump on the Fannovation and get voting, we have 1 day and less than 4 hours as I’m writing this to get Tim to the next round!!  Share the news and vote now!

Randy Lopez to be Keynote at RAM’s 16th Annual Leadership Conference

Our very own branding expert Randy Lopez will be attending RAM’s 16th Annual Leadership Conference this year in New Orleans (home of this year’s Super Bowl champs) as their keynote speaker.  This year those in attendance will be learning about branding, the power of cult branding, and word of mouth marketing.  The conference will also cover specifically RAM International’s branding expectations which aims to help fellow owners increase both attendance and sales throughout their 2010 year.  At the event they will also be celebrating RAM International’s 39th Anniversary!
Happy Anniversary RAM International!  And Randy, have a great time in New Orleans.

Supergenius = Randy Lopez

The Supergenius Confrence was a huge hit thanks to all of the brilliant speakers (our own Randy Lopez included), attendees, sponsors, and partners who helped make the event such a success.  After scrolling through the twitter feed, its clear that all the attendees walked away with very positive experiences - most of which are practically tweeting their RSVP to next year’s conference.
If you missed the event, that’s all right - GasPedal did a fabulous job at providing you with up-to-the minute details of the event, including recordings of the speakers, detailed notes of any of the classes, workshops, etc., all of the complete live coverage at your fingertips.  We encourage you to listen in on Randy’s class, How to Create Word of Mouth on Zero Budget.

Tommy Bahama’s tabs Johnson Gray to re-brand its Island Grille concept.

Irvine, CA. October 27, 2009 - Johnson Gray Advertising continues to add to its diverse client roster by beating out more than 20 regional and national agencies to win branding and marketing duties for Tommy Bahama’s. They currently have 12 restaurant locations and 70 retail locations across the nation.

Influenced by the Irvine-based agency’s track record of developing effective, creative branding and marketing solutions for clients in the restaurant, tourism and retail industries, Tommy Bahama’s has chosen Johnson Gray to develop and execute a new marketing plan for Tommy Bahama’s Island Grille. Their Newport Beach restaurant location originally opened its doors in 1998 before being remodeled and reopened under the Island Grille name in 2008.

“We’re proud to be selected and excited to get started,” President and Executive Creative Director, Will Johnson said. “The chance to take a key role in the re-thinking and re-branding of a high-quality product within such an established and respected brand as Tommy Bahama’s presents an exciting opportunity, both creatively and strategically.”

With the win, Tommy Bahama’s Island Grille becomes the latest in a wave of new clients for Johnson Gray. Within recent months the agency has also begun work for Tustin, CA-based Toshiba America Medical Systems and Behr Paint, headquartered in Santa Ana, CA.
