Tourism Spike in Unlikely Places

Washington has found a way to increase tourism thanks to the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer.  These blockbuster hits have turned the quaint towns of Forks, La Push and Port Angeles, WA into unlikely tourist hot spots.  Over the last year or so, carloads of Twilight fans arrive at the Forks visitor center and grab maps pinpointing all of Twilight’s landmarks including Forks Community Hospital, Forks High School, the Cullen House, and the Clallam County sheriff’s office.  After they’ve covered all of that landscape, they travel on through scenic Port Angeles, and further to the driftwood beach in nearby city La Push and check out the Quileute Prairie Cemetery’s “vampire” baseball field, the “No Vampires Beyond this Point” sign, and the list goes on.  Any Twilight fan can download their very own Washington State Twilight Road Trip map from ExperienceWA.com‘s exclusive Twilight in Washington page.  With the second movie coming out this month, businesses can very well expect their recent sales increases to continue to rise as the series continues to grow in popularity.
